A common munia with a rich chestnut-brown head and back and pale underparts marked with fine scaly barring, widespread in grassland, paddy fields and roadside scrub.
Forms large, tight-knit flocks that feed on rice and grass seeds, twittering constantly as they move together, and is one of the most familiar small birds of Borneo's lowlands.
