A distinctive munia with a clean whitish head contrasting against a dark chestnut-brown body, found in grassland, scrub and cultivated lowlands.
Its status in Borneo is of uncertain origin, with populations possibly derived at least in part from escaped or released cage birds rather than natural colonization.
