A Bornean endemic munia, uniformly dark chocolate-brown overall with a stout silvery-grey bill, common in grassland, scrub and cultivated lowland areas.
Highly social, forming tight flocks that move together through grass and reeds feeding on seed heads, and one of the more easily observed endemic songbirds on the island.
