One of the largest native rats in Borneo, with a notably long tail, large ears and a soft greyish-brown coat. Common in lowland and hill forest, including well-forested reserves.
Nocturnal and largely arboreal as well as terrestrial, foraging for fruit, seeds and invertebrates. Regularly recorded on night drives and around forest lodges after dark.
