Similar in habits to the three-striped ground squirrel but marked with four pale stripes down the back, and generally considered to favour slightly higher-elevation forest.
Terrestrial and diurnal, foraging on the ground for fruit, seeds and invertebrates. The two striped ground squirrels can usually be told apart by a careful stripe count if a clear view is obtained.
