A rufous-backed shrike with a black mask, grey crown and long graduated tail, favouring open farmland, grassland and scrub where it hunts from prominent perches.
Takes a broad diet of insects and small vertebrates, often caching prey on thorns, and is more a scarce visitor than a common resident in the Borneo region.
