A boldly striped, wren-like babbler with a long decurved bill, creeping mouse-like through leaf litter on the shaded forest floor where it is very hard to see.
Classed as Near-threatened due to its dependence on undisturbed lowland forest, its presence usually betrayed only by a thin, high-pitched song.
