A boldly patterned pitta with black, buff and gold banding across the head and underparts and a shimmering blue-green back, foraging on the shaded floor of lowland and hill forest.
Feeds by flicking through leaf litter for invertebrates, and its far-carrying two-note whistle is a familiar but elusive sound of the Bornean forest interior.
