A large, robust frog (also known as the Chinese edible frog across parts of its wide Asian range) found in open wetland, paddy fields and slow water bodies rather than forest.
Feeds on invertebrates and small vertebrates, and is farmed for food in parts of its range; in Sabah it is most likely encountered around agricultural land near forest edges.
