A small, elegant treeswift with a deeply forked tail, grey plumage and — in males — a rufous facial patch, perching more readily than true swifts on exposed bare branches.
Hawks flying insects from a perch in short sallies, returning to the same branch repeatedly, which makes it one of the easier swifts to actually get a good look at.
