Sculptor Squirrel

A small, little-known tree squirrel restricted to Borneo and neighbouring Banggi Island, with unusually grooved, chisel-like incisors — the feature behind both its common and scientific names (Glyphotes, roughly 'carved') — thought to be an adaptation for feeding on fungi and bark rather than fruit.

Diurnal and arboreal, moving through the mid-to-upper canopy of lowland and hill forest. Rarely reported and poorly documented compared with Borneo's more common Callosciurus and Sundasciurus squirrels.
