Neither a true flier nor a lemur — colugos glide using a broad membrane (patagium) stretching from neck to fingertips to tail, capable of covering well over 100m between trees with minimal loss of height. By day it clings flat against a tree trunk, camouflaged and easily overlooked.
Nocturnal and folivorous, feeding on young leaves, shoots, flowers and sap. Most reliably spotted by scanning tree trunks for a resting, well-camouflaged animal during the day, or watching for a glide at dusk.
