One of the most medically significant sea snakes in the region, with potent venom responsible for the majority of historical sea snake bite fatalities, mostly among fishermen handling nets and catches.
Found in shallow coastal and estuarine waters, including river mouths, feeding on fish. Generally docile unless directly handled or trapped, but any sea snake encountered in nets or shallow water should be treated with extreme caution.
