Small Asian Sheath-tailed Bat

A small, dark-furred bat named for a fringe of glandular hairs around the throat in males, and for a tail that pierces through the tail membrane rather than being fully enclosed by it — the 'sheath-tailed' feature shared across its family.

Roosts in caves and rock crevices, often in small groups, hunting flying insects at night; a somewhat larger and darker relative of the more widespread lesser sheath-tailed bat.
