A small flowerpecker in which males show a bright scarlet crown and back against grey-black wings, closely related to the Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker.
Favours coastal scrub, mangroves and gardens, feeding on mistletoe berries and small insects while foraging actively through low and mid-level vegetation.
