A genuinely bizarre limbless, blind, burrowing reptile, spending virtually its entire life underground in soil and leaf litter. Males retain tiny flap-like hindlimb remnants used to grip females during mating; females lack even these vestiges entirely.
Feeds on soil invertebrates such as termites and worms, and is almost never seen above ground except when soil is disturbed — a genuine rarity for any visitor to encounter.
