A smaller, more compact whistling duck than its wandering relative, warm chestnut-brown overall with a dark cap and a distinctive shrill whistling call.
The most familiar whistling duck across lowland Borneo, commonly seen in noisy flocks on ponds, paddies and slow rivers, often perching in waterside trees.
