Males show deep blue upperparts and throat grading into an orange breast, females duller and browner but retaining a hint of blue on the tail and rump.
Typically found at lower elevations than the similar Hill Blue Flycatcher, favouring forest edge, scrub and cultivated land, foraging low in the undergrowth.
