A plain brown flycatcher with a warm buffy-brown wash across the breast, similar to other Cyornis jungle flycatchers but told by its breeding range and streamside habits.
A globally Vulnerable species recorded only rarely in Borneo as a scarce winter visitor, associated with lowland forest and streamside vegetation.
