Black-and-red Broadbill

A striking broadbill with a black head and upperparts, deep maroon-red underparts and a bright blue-and-yellow bill, usually found near water in lowland forest, mangroves and riverside vegetation.

Feeds on insects and other small prey caught in short sallies from a perch, and builds a large, untidy hanging nest suspended over water — often visible from a river cruise.
