Another grey, barred cuckoo in the Oriental Cuckoo complex, breeding across the Himalayas and East Asia and reaching Borneo as a scarce passage or winter visitor.
Virtually identical to its close relatives in plumage, it is best separated by its distinctive four-note whistled call, typically given on the breeding grounds rather than in winter quarters.
