A grey, barred cuckoo familiar across Eurasia for its onomatopoeic call, occurring in Borneo as a scarce passage and winter visitor to forest edge and open woodland.
A classic brood parasite whose chicks famously evict host eggs and nestlings, it is most easily identified on its wintering grounds by structure and call rather than plumage, which closely resembles related species.
