A close relative of the Whiskered Tern, showing contrastingly pale wings and a black body in breeding plumage, occurring in Borneo as a regular non-breeding visitor to wetlands and paddy fields.
Forages buoyantly low over water and flooded land, picking insects and small prey from the surface, often mixing with Whiskered Terns in mixed flocks.
