A tiny, agile tree mouse with a long, semi-prehensile tail used for balance while climbing thin stems, often nesting inside hollow bamboo internodes. The most widespread of Borneo's pencil-tailed tree mice, ranging from forest into bamboo thickets and plantations.
Nocturnal and highly arboreal, feeding on fruit, seeds and insects gathered from slender branches too thin for larger rodents. Rarely seen given its small size and canopy-based, night-time habits.
