A free-tailed bat named for its wrinkled, folded lips, forming some of the largest bat colonies in Southeast Asia — certain cave roosts elsewhere in the region hold millions of individuals, providing substantial natural pest control over surrounding farmland.
A fast, high-flying insectivore, with a tail that extends free beyond the edge of the tail membrane, unlike most other bat families. Emerges from caves in large dusk streams to forage over forest and cultivated land.
