A rich rufous-chestnut partridge with a grey face and finely barred flanks, foraging unobtrusively among leaf litter on the floor of lowland and hill forest.
Considered Near-threatened as lowland forest across Borneo and Sumatra continues to shrink, this partridge is more often heard calling at dawn than seen in the dense understorey it favours.
