A strikingly patterned tree squirrel with bold black, white and chestnut-red bands running along its flanks — one of the most colourful and easily identified squirrels in Sabah.
Active by day in the low-to-mid canopy of forest and forest edge, feeding on fruit, seeds and bark. Often more confiding than other squirrels, and a regular sighting at forest lodges and gardens.
