A Bornean-endemic tree squirrel named for Mount Kinabalu, where it is one of the more regularly seen mammals along the park's lower trails, though its range extends across other northern Bornean mountains too.
Diurnal and arboreal, with the typical Callosciurus diet of fruit, seeds, bark and occasional insects. Coat colour is variable, often a rich reddish-brown, and can be confused with other Callosciurus squirrels where their ranges overlap at lower elevations.
