Red-headed Krait

A large, highly venomous krait, unmistakable for its bright red head and tail set against a glossy blue-black body edged with pale lateral stripes. It is found in lowland and hill forest.

Nocturnal, feeding mainly on other snakes, and — like other kraits — generally reluctant to bite unless directly threatened or handled, though venom is medically serious.
