A large, strikingly banded black-and-yellow cat snake, one of the most visually dramatic snakes in Sabah, found in mangroves, coastal forest and riverside vegetation.
Nocturnal and arboreal, hunting birds, eggs and small vertebrates. Mildly rear-fanged venomous with a bite that can cause significant local swelling, so it should be treated with respect and not handled.
