Bornean Frogmouth

A Bornean endemic frogmouth of montane forest, cryptically patterned in mottled grey-brown bark-like plumage that renders it almost invisible by day, perched motionless along mossy branches.

Nocturnal and rarely seen, its presence is usually confirmed only by a soft, descending whistled call after dark, making it a prized find on highland night walks such as those around Kinabalu Park.
