A lowland forest frogmouth with soft rufous-brown, bark-patterned plumage and a broad, hooked bill adapted for snatching flying insects at night.
Roosts motionless by day, bill pointed skyward to mimic a broken branch, and is most often detected by its low, rolling nocturnal call rather than by sight.
