A medium-sized white egret intermediate in size between the Great and Little Egrets, with a relatively short, thick yellow bill and a gape line ending below the eye.
Regularly found stalking prey in paddies, marshes and riverbanks across Borneo's lowlands, often in loose association with other egret species.
