A small, shy partridge with a rufous-orange breast, grey face and finely patterned upperparts, moving quietly through the leaf litter of montane forest.
Endemic to Borneo's highlands, it is most often detected by its distinctive duetting calls at dawn and dusk rather than seen directly in the dense understorey it favours.
