A shy, heavily streaked pipit that skulks in tall grass and is notoriously reluctant to flush, occurring in Borneo as a scarce and elusive winter visitor.
Feeds unobtrusively on insects among dense grass and marshland vegetation, and its secretive habits mean it is likely under-recorded compared with commoner wintering pipits.
