A heavily streaked pipit that in breeding plumage develops a brick-red throat and face, appearing in Bornean paddies and grasslands as a regular winter visitor.
Forages on open ground and short vegetation for insects, often in loose flocks with other pipits, and gives a distinctive thin, buzzing flight call.
