A fully marine sea snake with an unusual, highly specialised diet of fish eggs alone — a diet that requires no venom to subdue, and correspondingly this species has greatly reduced venom glands and fangs compared to most other sea snakes.
Found in shallow coastal water, swimming with a flattened, paddle-like tail typical of all sea snakes. Considered one of the least medically significant sea snakes given its minimal venom apparatus, though as with all sea snakes it should not be handled.
