A large, fully aquatic snake with remarkably loose, baggy, wrinkled skin — the texture that gives the species its common name — adapted for a life almost entirely in freshwater rivers and swamps.
Feeds on fish, ambushing prey in murky water where its loose skin may help reduce the pressure wave fish can detect. Non-venomous, and virtually never leaves the water.
