Bornean Bristlehead

One of the most bizarre and sought-after Bornean endemics, in a family entirely its own, with a bright red bristled head, black-and-yellow plumage and a stout hooked bill.

Highly social, moving in small, noisy flocks through the forest canopy, foraging for large insects and small vertebrates, and giving a distinctive harsh, raucous call that carries well through the forest — often the first sign of a passing flock.
