Perhaps the most famous of Borneo's gliding frogs, named after the naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who described its spectacular gliding ability in his writings from the region. Fully webbed fingers and toes form large 'parachutes' that let it glide controlled distances of several metres between trees, steering with limb and body position.

Nocturnal and almost entirely arboreal, rarely descending except to breed at ponds, where a foam nest is built on overhanging vegetation. A genuine highlight species for any visiting herpetologist, though a difficult, opportunistic sighting given its high-canopy habits.
