An unusual gecko with movable eyelids (most geckos have a fixed, transparent scale over the eye instead) and vertical, cat-like pupils, more terrestrial than most geckos, generally found on or near the ground rather than climbing walls and trunks.

Nocturnal, hunting small invertebrates in leaf litter and low vegetation, and — unlike most house-associated geckos — restricted to forest habitat rather than buildings.
