A Bornean-endemic shama with a pale crown against darker plumage, distinguishing it from its more widespread relatives. Found mainly in Sabah, where it is one of the island's more range-restricted forest birds.
Forages on and near the forest floor for insects, generally solitary and skulking like other shamas, and more often heard than seen.
